Have you ever felt torn between following a religion and exploring your own spiritual path? Like you have to pick a side? Here’s the truth: you don’t have to choose. Faith isn’t a one-size-fits-all concept, and it certainly doesn’t belong to any single tradition.
Every living being on this planet has a spirit (or soul)—the eternal part of you that is timeless and made of love. The words don’t matter—it’s not about what you call it.
When you feel connected to something greater—whether it’s God, the universe, angels, or signs from the other side—that’s your spirituality. It’s a broader term that encompasses all religions and belief systems. Religion is just one way to express your connection with the divine.
Spirituality and religion aren’t opposites—they are totally on the same page. Both offer paths to the same destination: love, meaning, and a sense of belonging. Faith—no matter what it looks like or what we call it—is about believing in what we cannot see.
The magic is in the story.
Faith comes to us in many forms—in the books we read, music that inspires us, art we admire, the people and pets we love, or in signs from the other side. Faith is the energy that inspires religions, rituals, and traditions, all with one universal message—love. Every religion or belief system, since forever, has offered a unique way to see ourselves, each other, and the world.
Whether you look into theology, history, or even science, you’ll find that belief systems around the world have much more in common than we often give them credit for. They help us understand our place in the universe through stories that are meant to open our hearts.
We're all drawn to stories for different reasons—whether from religious texts, books, or movies—they bring us together because they connect to something deeper within us.
Of course, we all have our favorites, those that just click with us, that we can’t put down, or that transport us to another world. And we’ve all felt that bittersweet moment when the story ends, and we have to say goodbye to the characters we’ve fallen in love with.
It's no surprise we can walk away from the same book with a completely different take on it. The bible is a perfect example—it's written in old english so it doesn’t always translate the best, especially when the language back then doesn’t quite fit into our modern day vocabulary. It's one of the most powerful books ever written about love, yet it has led to more debates, wars, and uncomfortable holiday dinners than we’d like to count.
But here's the beauty: the magic of one book doesn’t take away from another. Stories are meant to touch our souls—no matter what book (or religion) they come from.
What does faith feel like?
Faith feels like true love—it inspires you to grow, lifts you up, and reminds you that your worth isn’t defined by what you can do, what others think of you, or even what church you belong to.
Here’s the tea: faith should never be built around the principle of obedience. Yep, the classic “obey or else” narrative, where an all-knowing God lays down the rules. And if you break them? Cue punishment. Sound like true love to you? Nope, me neither. That’s fear, not freedom. And fear is literally the opposite of faith.
Faith is meant to feel good. Your faith should never make you feel small, controlled, or less than. So, if they ever tell you their way is the only right way—that’s just not true, no matter what title or status they hold. When someone speaks to you from their soul, you’ll just know.
So, if you want to church on Sunday and meditate on Monday, go for it, babe—faith is all about connecting with your heart. Your religion can be part of your life path—or not. Faith isn't about following a list of rules or finding that secret recipe to “earn your spot” in heaven—because your connection to heaven is already inside of you.
It always has been.
